Book Description

Fort Dodge IA: Webster Specialty Company, 1920. Uncommon, a VG- copy of the book assembled to pay tribute to the veterans (both those who survived WWI and those who did not), from Webster County Iowa. Published in 1920 (best guess, based on input from the state historical society), decoratively bound with what appears to be well-aged calfskin. Unpaginated, but approximately 200pp. Contains many vintage B&W photos, capsule bios of those who served during the war (including information on rank, unit, decorations, date of death in battle (if appropriate),) photos of activities honoring veterans, articles about the war and its impact on the citizens of Fort Dodge and Webster County and much more. The pages are quite clean and nice, although browned with age. The calfskin cover is worn at the edges, though still sound, and the embossed military eagle and the gold titling on the front are still clean and legible. VG- is because one page, relating to the owner (a Charles R. Theyson, who was a Sargeant attached to Pershing's staff), has had the photo cut out, damaging some of the text on the following page (relating to an officer named Philpot) Also laid in is Theyson's military record, with date enlisted, units served in, ranks achieved.
