Purple is faded to a dull brown at the spines, and to a lesser extent to the board edges. Some wear and fraying to head and heel of spine. Slight bumping and curl to corners. 711 pages in two volumes, with index. Some pages remain uncut. Binding is solid, with no splitting or loose pages. 26 illustrations, including two photogravure frontispieces.
